About Van Gogh's "Irises"
These images of the Irises on this teapot are one of four lush still lifes that Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853–1890) completed in 1890, prior to his departure from the asylum in Saint-Rémy in the South of France. Both "Irises" and "Roses" in The Met Collection were once owned by the artist's mother.
