What is a "gaufres"?  To us here in the US or Canada, we would call it a waffle...except that a gaufre is made from dough, while waffle is made from batter. Unlike thick American or Belgian waffles, French versions are often thinner and crispier, enjoyed plain or dusted with powdered sugar!
