About André Derain (French, 1880–1954)
André Derain, (10 June 1880 – 8 September 1954) was a French artist, painter, sculptor and co-founder of Fauvism with Henri Matisse. Derain's bold colors and long, broken brushstrokes indicate the influence of the Neo-Impressionists Paul Signac and Henri-Edmond Cross, as well as that of the Fauvist Henri Matisse.
