Metropolitan Museum of Art, Iris Silk Neckerchief
The Met has elevated a classic accessory with a detail from one of Vincent van Gogh's radiant spring bouquets.

Van Gogh sought to achieve a "harmonious and soft" effect by placing the "violet" flowers against a "pink background." Owing to his use of fugitive red pigments, these colors have since faded with time.

This small neckerchief is ideal for use not only as a neck scarf, but for tying onto the handle of a bag to create a stunning, European look.

About Van Gogh & the Met Collection
In May of 1890, just before his departure from the asylum in Saint-Rémy, the artist painted four exceptional still lifes, including the exuberant Irises (1890) in The Met collection.
