About this scarf...
Probably woven at the Nadezhda Merlina Manufactory in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod province, the shawl's vivid stripes may have been inspired by the colorful men's sashes contemporaneously produced in Poland, Russia, and France, which themselves were inspired by Iranian and Indian precursors.
