Georges Seurat, La Grande Jatte Kitchen / Tea Towel
Georges Seurat, "La Grande Jatte" Towel - ("Sunday Afternoon on Island of la Grande Jatte). This unique tea towel from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, with a contrasting border to frame Seurat's iconic scene, features details from an 1884 oil study for A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat (French, 1859–1891), located in The Met Collection.
La Grande Jatte was Seurat's final study for his beloved monumental painting of Parisians at leisure on an island in the Seine, now located at the Art Institute of Chicago. In the original study in The Met, contrasting pigments are woven together with small, patchy brushstrokes.
